Databuild

Windows-based estimating, purchasing, job costing and accounting software for Australian and New Zealand builders.

01

Overview

Databuild is an integrated business management system for builders in Australia and New Zealand that connects recipe-based estimating and quoting with purchase orders, variations, job cost reporting and construction accounting.

Best for: Australian and New Zealand home builders that want estimating, ordering and accounting in one desktop system.

What Databuild does

Databuild builds estimates from standard or company-specific recipes and a quantity generator, and each estimate flows into quotations, bills of quantities and purchase orders. Price file management lets users import, store and bulk-update supplier and quoting rates, while a sales analysis tool tracks quote conversion and variations can be approved, ordered and claimed separately from the main estimate.

On the back end, automatic invoice checking flags duplicate invoices and amounts that exceed the order or budget, and job cost reporting compares actual costs with the estimate and highlights the most and least profitable areas. The accounting module handles supplier payments by EFT, remittances, general ledger posting, financial statements and GST BAS reports, and an Australian payroll integration (KeyPay) feeds labour costs into job costing. All modules share the same base data; the software runs on Windows with Microsoft Access or SQL Server databases, integrates with Microsoft Office and receives about three main releases a year.

Databuild was founded in 1975 by Don Norton and David Kelly and has been part of Illinois Tool Works (ITW) since September 2008, with offices in Dandenong South, Victoria, and Albany, Auckland. Pricing is not published; licences are sold through the sales team after a demo, with an annual software maintenance subscription for updates and support.
