Smartsheet
Spreadsheet-style work management platform that construction teams use for schedules, trackers and portfolio dashboards.
Overview
Smartsheet is a cloud work management platform with a familiar spreadsheet-style grid, Gantt and card views, automations and dashboards, widely used by contractors and owners to track schedules, submittals, punch lists and project portfolios.
Best for: Contractors and owners that want flexible spreadsheet-style project tracking and portfolio reporting.
What Smartsheet does
Smartsheet is a general work management tool rather than a construction system, but its sheets, Gantt charts with dependencies, forms, automated workflows, reports and dashboards make it a common choice for construction project trackers, pre-construction pipelines, RFI and submittal logs and owner portfolio reporting. Higher tiers add resource management, Brandfolder digital asset management and advanced work management for large PMOs.
Smartsheet runs in the browser and on iOS and Android, and Software Advice lists more than 120 integrations, including Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Google Drive, Jira and Zapier. External collaborators such as subcontractors can be shared into sheets and forms.
Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, Smartsheet was taken private by Blackstone and Vista Equity Partners in January 2025 in an $8.4 billion deal. Pro costs $9 per member per month billed annually ($12 monthly) and Business $19 per member per month billed annually ($24 monthly) with a three-member minimum; Enterprise and Advanced Work Management are quote-based. A 30-day free trial is available.
