McCormick Systems
Electrical, plumbing and mechanical estimating with built-in digital takeoff, from Foundation Software.
Overview
McCormick is estimating and takeoff software for electrical, plumbing and mechanical contractors that combines prebuilt item and assembly databases, industry labor units and on-screen takeoff to produce priced bids, with hosted or on-premise deployment.
Best for: Electrical, plumbing and mechanical contractors that bid commercial, industrial and residential work and want detailed trade databases with integrated takeoff.
What McCormick Systems does
McCormick Estimating, marketed as McCormick Pro, is built around trade-specific databases of more than 55,000 items and 25,000 assemblies for commercial, residential and industrial electrical, plumbing and mechanical work, with separate U.S. and Canadian electrical databases. Labor units follow NECA, PHCC and MCAA standards and can be adjusted to a contractor's own crew productivity. Estimators build reusable templates, assemblies and job screens, then roll quantities into extensions, bid breakouts, recap reports and a bid summary with margin and sell-price adjustments, plus change order tracking and alerts for bids coming due.
Takeoff is done in Design Estimating Pro (DEP), the built-in digital takeoff module, which handles linear and count takeoffs on drawings, overlays plan revisions to highlight changes, reuses takeoff pieces through hotlists and offers auto-count and a patented Auto Home Run feature for wiring. Won estimates flow into FOUNDATION job cost accounting, material prices can be refreshed from major pricing services or a contractor's own supplier, and the 2026 V26.7 release added Remarcable supplier-specific material pricing. Other 2026 updates sped up transfers from extensions to the bid summary, added hyperlinks to cut sheets, sortable extensions with Excel copy, a read-only banner when another user is editing a bid, and reworked security levels and user management. The software runs on Windows workstations against an on-premise server or as a hosted cloud subscription with automatic updates and backups.
McCormick Systems grew out of an estimating product that founder Jack McCormick introduced in the late 1970s and is based in Chandler, Arizona, with customers across the U.S., Canada and Australia. Foundation Software, the Ohio-based construction accounting vendor, acquired the company in May 2021, and McCormick now sits alongside FOUNDATION, Payroll4Construction, WorkMax and HQ Suite. Pricing is not published: buyers request a demo and quote, with options for licenses plus annual maintenance or a hosted monthly subscription, and the company provides one-on-one training and U.S.-based technical support.
